In a day of dynamic market movements, the Sensex and Nifty 50 managed to close in the green, yet experienced a notable retreat from their intraday highs. The Nifty Midcap and Small Cap segments, however, soared to record highs during the day's trading session.
The Sensex saw a gain of 307 points, concluding at 65,983, while the Nifty 50 added 87 points to finish at 19,762. Despite the overall positive sentiment, the Nifty Bank witnessed a dip of 40 points, settling at 44,162, contrasting with the Midcap Index, which surged by 322 points, reaching 41,726.

In a remarkable show, Nifty Auto and Realty touched record highs during intraday trading, concluding nearly 1% higher by the end of the session. Notably, Hero Moto emerged as the top Nifty gainer, buoyed by its highest-ever festive retail sales, resulting in a 3% surge.
Technology stocks played a pivotal role in driving the indices, with heavyweights TCS and Infosys contributing significantly to Nifty's gains. The Nifty IT sector closed nearly 3% higher. Vodafone Idea experienced a positive uptick of more than 2% following a contraction in subscriber losses for the month of August.
Reliance Industries held steady, ending the day flat, while ONGC saw a more than 1% increase, attributed to a windfall tax cut on crude and diesel. Manappuram Finance continued its winning streak, concluding in the green for the fourth consecutive session with an impressive uptick of over 6%.
Several stocks hit record highs during intraday trade, including Tata Motors, Persistent Systems, NTPC, and HAL. Bajaj Finance, after a shaky start, recovered to end nearly 2% higher, showcasing resilience in the face of market fluctuations. MCX posted a gain of more than 2%, extending its upward trajectory for the fifth consecutive session.
Market breadth favoured advances, with an advance-decline ratio standing at 1:1, indicating a balanced performance across sectors.
As the market continues to navigate through volatile terrain, investors remain vigilant, analyzing the various factors influencing these rapid fluctuations.
