Maruti Suzuki India collaborates with Delhi Rail Division to transport Jimny cars to western ports for export to African nations, marking a significant boost in automobile exports.
Maruti Suzuki India has joined hands with the Delhi Rail Division of Northern Railway to transport its Jimny cars to western ports through freight trains. These cars will then be transhipped in vessels and exported to African nations, as per an official statement.

Flagging Off the First Freight Train
The inaugural freight train carrying 98 Jimny cars was flagged off on Tuesday from Farukhnagar station in Gurugram by Sukhvinder Singh, Divisional Railway Manager. Senior officials from Maruti Suzuki India and Delhi Rail Division were present at the event.
Delhi Division as a Preferred Partner
The Delhi Division of Northern Railway has emerged as the preferred partner for automotive industries. This collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India aims to boost the export of automobiles, particularly the Jimny model, to African nations.
Environment-Friendly Transportation
This initiative not only generates additional loading and revenue for the Railways but also offers an environmentally friendly means of transporting automobiles. Compared to roadways, trains provide hassle-free movement and reduce carbon emissions.
Enhancing Automobile Loading
The positive impact of this collaboration is evident in the significant increase in automobile loading by 75% in the current financial year (April-December) compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
