Tom Cruise made a comeback with his spy thriller, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, which has stormed the Indian box office with a spectacular opening. Released on May 17, the film collected a whopping Rs. 17.5 crore on its first day, making it the biggest Hollywood opener of 2025 in India.
This seventh instalment in the Mission: Impossible franchise is the final chapter of Ethan Hunt's daring adventures and has clearly resonated with Indian audiences across major metros like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The movie was released in multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, giving it a wider reach and contributing to its strong pan-India performance.
Mission: Impossible Box Office Collection So Far
According to estimates by Sacnilk, Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning earned Rs. 17.5 crore on Day 1 in India, making it the top Hollywood release of 2025 so far. On the second day, i.e., on May 18, the movie managed to earn Rs. 4.93 crore.
The box office collections were especially strong in South India, with Chennai clocking occupancy rates as high as 98%, particularly in IMAX and premium formats.

The film's opening day collection has already outperformed several recent Bollywood releases and is expected to dominate the weekend box office. Trade experts project the movie could collect over Rs 55 crore in its opening weekend if the current momentum continues.
Tom Cruise Returns With A Bang
Tom Cruise reprises his iconic role as IMF agent Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning. The movie will feature breathtaking stunts and action sequences and has a gripping narrative. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie and is being hailed as a proper finale to one of Hollywood's most successful action franchises.
The franchise has a huge popularity in India, and so does the fanbase of Tom Cruise, because of which it has ensured strong footfall in theatres. According to trade analysts, this latest instalment has even surpassed the opening day collections of its predecessor Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, which opened to Rs. 12 crore in India in 2023.
Global Box Office Collection
Internationally, The Final Reckoning is looking forward to a global box office milestone. With an estimated production budget between USD300- USD400 million, the film is expected to need USD 800 million to USD 1 billion to break even. This makes it one of the most expensive movies ever made. This release is particularly unimportant since the movie from the series Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning had an underwhelming performance, which grossed only USD 571 million against a USD 291 million budget.
