The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy has announced an extension for the submission of research and development (R&D) proposals under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Initially set for April 12, 2024, the deadline has now been moved to April 27, 2024, to accommodate stakeholders who have requested additional time to prepare their submissions. This extension aims to ensure the submission of high-quality proposals that can contribute significantly to the mission's objectives.

Extended Deadline for Green Hydrogen R&D

Launched on January 4, 2023, the National Green Hydrogen Mission is a strategic initiative by the Indian government, with a financial commitment of Rs 19,744 crore extending up to the fiscal year 2029-30. The mission's primary goal is to enhance India's green hydrogen production capabilities and establish a comprehensive ecosystem encompassing production, storage, transportation, and utilization of green hydrogen.

The R&D Scheme under this mission is a critical component, with a dedicated budgetary outlay of Rs 400 crore until 2025-26. The scheme is designed to address key challenges in making green hydrogen technologies more affordable, efficient, safe, and reliable. It covers all essential aspects of the green hydrogen value chain including production, storage, compression, transportation, and utilization.

Moreover, the scheme emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts among industry players, academic institutions, and government bodies. Such partnerships are crucial for fostering an innovation-driven environment conducive to the advancement of green hydrogen technologies. The extended deadline for R&D proposal submissions is a testament to the ministry's commitment to ensuring broad participation and securing innovative solutions for the mission's success.

The National Green Hydrogen Mission not only underscores India's dedication to sustainable energy sources but also positions the country as a key player in the global transition towards cleaner energy alternatives. Through initiatives like these, India aims to reduce its carbon footprint and contribute significantly to global efforts against climate change.
