JioCinema, the digital entertainment arm of Reliance Industries, has slashed its premium subscription prices to as low as Rs 29 per month. This aggressive pricing strategy is set to shake up the competition with industry giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime.
Previously priced at Rs 99 per month, JioCinema's premium offering now presents a fresh deal for Indian consumers. The platform's advertisement-free version, available at an introductory price of Rs 29 per month, allows streaming on a single device. For families or multi-device users, the "Family" plan priced at Rs 89 per month enables streaming on up to four simultaneous devices.

Existing JioCinema premium members will enjoy all the additional benefits of the "Family" plan at no extra cost, cementing customer loyalty while attracting new subscribers.
JioCinema, operated by Viacom18, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has already carved a significant niche in India's media and entertainment market, valued at $28 billion. Leveraging its extensive network of TV channels and streaming services, JioCinema has become a household name, particularly renowned for broadcasting the IPL cricket tournament for free.
This pricing overhaul signals Reliance Industries' relentless pursuit of market dominance under the stewardship of Chairman Mukesh Ambani, known for his disruptive strategies in India's price-sensitive market. The move not only intensifies competition with Netflix and Amazon Prime but also aligns with Reliance's recent agreements to merge India TV and streaming assets with Disney and secure content deals with entertainment giants like Warner Bros Discovery and NBCUniversal.
While JioCinema's premium content, including popular titles like "Succession" and shows featuring Harry Potter, will be subject to the new pricing structure, the platform reaffirms its commitment to providing free access to IPL matches and other select shows.
JioCinema's library caters to diverse audiences, offering a wide array of content ranging from international hits to regional favourites. Notably, the platform boasts a robust collection of kids' content, including popular Japanese anime series like Pokemon, catering to the preferences of young viewers.
This move by JioCinema is poised to reshape India's streaming space, driving further innovation and affordability in the digital entertainment space. As consumers embrace the era of online streaming, the battle for supremacy among platforms intensifies, promising more options and better value for Indian audiences.
