Businesses Must Foster a Stronger, Inclusive India: Mukesh Ambani

Mumbai, March 30 - Mukesh Ambani, India's wealthiest individual and the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, recently emphasized the significant role of the business community in fostering a stronger and more inclusive India. Speaking at an event hosted by the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in Mumbai, Ambani expressed his optimism regarding the future of the industry, particularly its potential to achieve a milestone of USD 100 billion in exports over the coming decades.

Inclusive Growth Key for India: Ambani

Ambani highlighted the collective responsibility of the business sector to contribute towards realizing the vision of a fully developed India, or 'Viksit Bharat', as outlined by the Prime Minister. He praised the gems and jewellery sector for its impressive growth over the years, noting its rise to USD 40 billion in exports and the creation of more than 5 million jobs across the country.

The industry, which has seen significant contributions from individuals hailing from Palanpur, was lauded by Ambani for its substantial progress from humble beginnings. He also acknowledged his family's roots in Kathiawad and hinted at potential collaborations between Kathiawadis and Palanpuris to further enhance opportunities within the sector. "The bigger the pie, the better for us," Ambani remarked, indicating a positive outlook towards shared prosperity.

Further personal connections to the industry were mentioned as Ambani spoke warmly of his daughter-in-law, Shloka Mehta, who is connected to Rosyblue, one of the pioneering companies in this field. Shloka Mehta, described by Ambani as radiating "warmth and wisdom," is the daughter of Russel Mehta of Rosyblue. The event also saw Russel Mehta receiving a Lifetime Achievement award, with Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais among the attendees.

This gathering not only served as a platform for recognizing achievements within the gems and jewellery sector but also underscored the broader implications of such success for India's economic development and social inclusivity. Ambani's comments reflect a vision for a collaborative effort towards achieving national goals, leveraging India's rich heritage in gems and jewellery as a stepping stone towards a more prosperous future.
