Mukesh Ambani Receives Threat Emails, Mumbai Police Launch Investigation

Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries (RIL), found himself the target of alarming threats yet again, as he received two more menacing emails on October 31 and November 1, each demanding a staggering Rs 400 crore ransom while warning of dire consequences for non-compliance.

The news comes in the wake of a recent spate of threat emails and calls aimed at the billionaire industrialist, all of which have left the Mumbai police on high alert. In these recent emails, the sender reiterated their demand for an exorbitant ransom and escalated the threats, sending shockwaves through the corporate and law enforcement circles.

According to the Mumbai police, these emails, which bear chilling similarities to previous messages, appear to be the work of the same unidentified individual. An investigation is currently underway to trace the source of these ominous emails and apprehend the person responsible.

The troubling series of events began in late October when Ambani received a death threat email, in which the sender demanded a ransom of Rs 20 crore and threatened to take his life. The message was unequivocal: "If you don't give us 20 crore rupees, we will kill you; we have the best shooters in India."

This initial threat prompted the Mumbai police to swing into action, registering a case against the unknown sender for an attempt to extortion by threatening death or grievous hurt, as per Section 387 of the Indian Penal Code, in addition to criminal intimidation under Section 506-2 of the IPC. These legal actions signify the seriousness with which the authorities are treating the situation.

Just three days later, on October 30, another email arrived, this time demanding the colossal sum of Rs 400 crore. This marked the third threat email Mukesh Ambani received within just four days. The sender's persistence and the gravity of their threats have raised serious concerns about the safety of one of India's most prominent business leaders.

Last year, Ambani's family also faced threats when an individual targeted a hospital run by the Reliance Foundation. The caller threatened to kill Ambani and his family members, including his wife Nita Ambani and their sons Akash and Anant. The threats extended to the Ambani family residence, Antilia, in South Mumbai. In that instance, the Mumbai Police arrested Rakesh Kumar Mishra, a 30-year-old from Darbhanga in Bihar, for making threatening calls to the hospital.
