Bengaluru's daily Metro commuters could be facing yet another increase in Namma Metro fares, with ticket prices likely to be revised from February, according to sources familiar with the development.

Last year in February 2025, Bangalore metro fare hike was seen which had sharply raised ticket prices and sparked widespread public outrage.
The fare revision is being prepared by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) in line with recommendations made by the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC), which allows annual revisions of Namma Metro fares, capped at a maximum of 5% per year.
Why Namma Metro Fares May Increase Every Year
According to officials, one year has now passed since the last fare hike, making February 2026 the next eligible window for a fare revision under existing norms. The Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002, empowers Metro authorities to periodically revise fares by submitting proposals based on Fare Fixation Committee guidelines.
The FFC, whose recommendations are legally binding under Section 33 of the Act, had earlier suggested year-on-year fare revisions to keep Metro finances sustainable. Until a new Fare Fixation Committee is formed, the current framework allows automatic annual fare adjustments.
While BMRCL is still finalising the proposal, officials confirmed that calculations are underway to determine how much the Bengaluru Metro fare will be increase, though the exact percentage has not yet been disclosed.
The proposed Namma Metro fare hike February update has once again raised questions about affordability and access to public transport in Bengaluru. The possibility of another fare hike has revived anger among commuters who are still reeling from the huge Namma Metro fare hike implemented in February 2025. That revision made Namma Metro the most expensive Metro system in India, triggering protests and intense scrutiny of BMRCL's fare policy.
