Early today (September 27, 2021) Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) with an aim to establish the "backbone necessary to support the integrated digital health infrastructure of the country." On the launch, Modi iterated that the mission has the capability to bring about "revolutionary changes" to the healthcare infrastructure in the country.

The system is likely to help the countrymen get better access to healthcare services in the country via digital means.
Four major components of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM)
There are primarily four major components of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, including a health health ID, health facility registry, health record and healthcare professionals registry. Here's in brief about how each of the components shall work to deliver better healthcare services:
1. Health ID: A unique Health ID can be created for storing, accessing as well as sharing one's health related data. The creation of health ID shall purely be on one's own will and can be done by linking either mobile number of Aadhaar. This health ID will enable healthcare providers to view and analyze patients' past health records digitally. Also a person can delete his or her health record at one's discretion as per the website.
2. Health facility registry: To become the part of the digital ecosystem of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission the various stakeholders of the healthcare system can register. Thus health facility registry shall comprise the list of all registered healthcare providers, including public as well as private healthcare entities such as hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories and imaging centres and pharmacies among others. The process will enable individuals to access health care services via digital means easily.
3. Health Records: Health records is indeed a mobile app that will enable users to store and maintain their health related data. For downloading the health records app you can click here. The data can also be shared with doctors, health care facilities etc.
4. Healthcare professionals registry:This feature will enable the entire healthcare professional community to register themselves on the ABDM's ecosystem. The component will allow healthcare professional to get both online visibility and presence.
The healthcare professionals who register on to ABDM's registry will be able to view patient's records online and also can extend treatment digitally.
