Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his efforts in global peace initiatives and strengthening diplomatic ties. The meeting also addressed ongoing Middle East relations and the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated US President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. During a dinner at the White House, Netanyahu personally handed Trump a copy of the nomination letter. "He's forging peace as we speak, in one country, in one region after the other," Netanyahu remarked, highlighting Trump's efforts in promoting peace.
Netanyahu expressed admiration for Trump's leadership, noting its global appeal. "I want to express the appreciation and admiration — not only of all Israelis, but of the Jewish people and many, many admirers around the world — for your leadership," he stated. This sentiment underscores the widespread respect Trump commands internationally.

Trump's Response and Middle East Diplomacy
Upon receiving the nomination letter, Trump was visibly moved. "Thank you very much. This I didn't know—wow, thank you very much. Coming from you... This is very meaningful," he responded. The gesture seemed to strengthen their diplomatic ties further.
In addition to discussing peace efforts, Trump confirmed that talks with Iran are on the horizon following recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. "We have scheduled Iran talks, and they want to," Trump revealed. His Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, mentioned that these discussions might occur soon.
Concerns Over Russia-Ukraine Conflict
The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine was another topic of concern for Trump during his meeting with Netanyahu. He expressed his desire for an end to hostilities due to the loss of life involved. "What's happening between Russia and Ukraine is a horrible thing, and I'm not happy with President Putin at all," he said.
Trump lamented the high casualty rates among Russians and Ukrainians each week due to the conflict. His comments reflect a broader commitment to reducing violence worldwide and fostering peaceful resolutions wherever possible.
The dinner meeting also served as an opportunity for Trump to acknowledge his longstanding friendship with Netanyahu and his wife Sara. "It's an honor to have BB (Benjamin Netanyahu) and Sara with us," Trump noted warmly. He praised their shared achievements and expressed optimism about future successes together.
This gathering at the White House highlighted key geopolitical issues while reinforcing personal bonds between leaders committed to peace initiatives globally.
