The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on March 15 announced that all domestic LPG consumers must complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication or e-KYC to continue receiving LPG services and subsidies. The ministry said the verification process can now be completed easily from home using a smartphone through the official mobile applications of oil marketing companies along with the Aadhaar FaceRD app.

In a X Post shared by the ministry, it said: "All domestic LPG consumers are required to complete Biometric Aadhaar Authentication (e-KYC). Now verify from the comfort of your home using your Oil Marketing Company's mobile app and Aadhaar FaceRD app."
New LPG Aadhaar e-KYC Rule
Under the new directive, LPG users must link and authenticate their Aadhaar through biometric verification. The process applies to consumers of LPG connections provided by public sector oil companies including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited.
The government said that the authentication process is very easy and can be done digitally without visiting any LPG distributor. Consumers can simply use the mobile apps of their respective oil companies and complete the process through facial authentication using the Aadhaar FaceRD application.
Step-by-Step: How to Complete LPG Biometric Aadhaar Authentication
The process is simple and can be done within a few minutes:
Step 1: Scan the QR code provided in the government notice or visit the official link:
https://www.pmuy.gov.in/e-kyc.html
Step 2: Download your Oil Marketing Company's mobile app (IOCL, BPCL or HPCL) along with the Aadhaar FaceRD app.
Step 3: Follow the instructions in the company app and complete the biometric authentication by scanning your face using the Aadhaar FaceRD app.
Step 4: Once the verification is completed successfully, the consumer's LPG account will be authenticated.
Important Notice for Ujjwala Scheme Beneficiaries
Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana must note that biometric Aadhaar authentication is mandatory every financial year before the first LPG refill.
If the e-KYC is not completed, the targeted LPG subsidy may be stopped, and refill supply could also be interrupted until the authentication is done.
However, the ministry also clarified that consumers who complete the authentication once during a financial year will not be required to repeat the process again within the same year.
Helpline for LPG Consumers
Consumers who face any issues while completing the authentication process can contact the LPG helpline number: 1800 2333 555 or reach out to their local LPG distributor for assistance.
