New Year 2026 celebrations in Bengaluru are set to be grand and crowded, with pubs, bars and party hotspots preparing for massive footfall on the night of December 31. To ensure public safety and smooth traffic movement, the Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory covering major nightlife hubs such as MG Road, Koramangala, Indiranagar and Neeladri Road.

With thousands of partygoers expected across the city, authorities have announced parking restrictions, designated cab pickup-drop points, flyover closures and special enforcement drives through the night.
New Year 2026 Traffic Advisory in Bengaluru
According to the official advisory, elaborate traffic arrangements have been put in place in the Traffic East Division for smooth vehicular movement and pedestrian safety. The traffic police have urged citizens to cooperate, follow guidelines and plan travel in advance to avoid last-minute congestion during New Year's Eve celebrations in Bengaluru.
Areas Expected to Witness Heavy Crowds on New Year's Eve
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have identified key areas where crowd density and traffic congestion are likely to peak on the night of December 31. These include MG Road, Koramangala, Indiranagar and Neeladri Road, which house some of the city's most popular pubs, breweries and party venues.
Commuters and partygoers are advised to avoid unnecessary travel through these zones and use public transport or app-based cabs wherever possible.
Parking Restrictions Announced on Major Roads
To manage traffic flow, parking will be restricted on both sides of several key roads during New Year celebrations. These include Indiranagar 100 Feet Road from Old Madras Road Junction to Domlur Flyover Junction, Indiranagar 12th Main Road from 80 Feet Road to Indiranagar Double Road Junction, ITPL Main Road from B Narayanpura Shell Petrol Bunk to Garudacharpalya Decathlon, Hoodi Metro Station to Graphite India Junction, and ITPL Medicover to Big Bazaar Junction.
Vehicles parked in restricted zones may be towed, and violators could face penalties.
Ola, Uber Pickup and Drop Points for New Year Parties
To reduce congestion caused by random cab halts, the Bengaluru traffic police have announced designated Ola and Uber pickup and drop points. For Phoenix Mall, drop-off is near the BESCOM Office on ITPL Main Road, while pickup is near Lowry Junction. For Nexus Shantiniketan Mall, the drop point is near Rajapalya, and the pickup point is near Aster Hospital.
In Indiranagar, partygoers must use the 17th Main Road Junction on 100 Feet Road as the drop point, while pickups will be allowed near BM Sri Junction on 100 Feet Road.
Flyover Restrictions from 11 PM to 6 AM
Several flyovers across Bengaluru will be closed to traffic from 11:00 pm on December 31 to 6:00 am on January 1, 2026, as part of New Year traffic regulation. These include Hennur Flyover, ITC Flyover, Banasawadi Main Road Flyover, Lingarajapura Flyover, Domlur Flyover, Nagawara Flyover, Mahadevapura Flyover, Devarabisanahalli Flyover, Doddanekkundi Flyovers, OM Road Flyover, Medahalli Flyover, and Kalpalli Railway Gate Flyover.
Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes and expect diversions in these areas.
Special Drive Against Drunk Driving and Rash Riding
The Bengaluru Traffic Police will conduct a special enforcement drive from the evening of December 31, 2025, till 6:00 am on January 1, 2026. Dedicated teams will be deployed to check drunk driving, overspeeding, wheeling, and drag racing, especially in the Traffic East Division limits. Strict action will be taken against violators to ensure a zero-accident New Year celebration.
Police Appeal to Citizens and Emergency Helpline
Sahil Bagla, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic East Division, Bengaluru City, appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities. The Bengaluru Police Department is aiming for a safe, peaceful and accident-free New Year 2026 in Bengaluru. For any emergency assistance, citizens can contact the Police Helpline Number 112.
