Nexus Venture Partners Divests 5.97% Stake in India Shelter Finance for Rs 482 Crore

Venture capital firm Nexus Venture Partners divested a 5.97% stake in India Shelter Finance Corporation for Rs 482 crore on Monday through open market transactions. The Gurugram-based company focuses on providing home loans to first-time buyers in low- and middle-income groups in Tier-II and Tier-III cities across India.

Nexus Venture Partners, through its affiliates Nexus Ventures III and Nexus Opportunity Fund II Ltd, sold 64 lakh shares, representing a 5.97% stake in India Shelter Finance Corporation via two bulk deals on the BSE. The shares were sold at prices ranging from Rs 752.35 to Rs 753.27 each, resulting in a total deal value of Rs 481.95 crore.

Following this transaction, Nexus Venture Partners' shareholding in India Shelter Finance Corporation decreased from 21.32% to 15.35%. Nexus initially invested in India Shelter Finance Corporation in 2012 and had built up a stake of 28.2% over various fundraising rounds.

Goldman Sachs and SBI Life Insurance Increase Stakes

Meanwhile, financial services company Goldman Sachs and SBI Life Insurance increased their stakes by acquiring a combined 1.31% stake in India Shelter Finance Corporation for Rs 106.26 crore. According to the data, Goldman Sachs purchased 7.42 lakh shares or a 0.69% stake, while SBI Life Insurance acquired 6.70 lakh units or a 0.62% holding.

The shares were bought at an average price of Rs 752.35 each, bringing the total deal value to Rs 106.26 crore. After these purchases, Goldman Sachs' stake in India Shelter Finance Corporation rose to 1.78%, and SBI Life Insurance's holding increased from 1.94% to 2.56%.

ICICI Prudential Life Insurance's Acquisition

Additionally, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance acquired 7.70 lakh shares or a 0.72% stake in India Shelter Finance Corporation at an average price of Rs 752.35 per share, totalling Rs 57.93 crore.

Details regarding other buyers of India Shelter Finance Corporation's shares were not available.

Shares of India Shelter Finance Corporation fell by 7.81%, closing at Rs 730 each on the BSE.
