Noida International Airport Launch: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of Noida International Airport on Saturday, March 28. The project is expected to significantly enhance regional air connectivity while strengthening capacity to handle rising passenger traffic and cargo demand in the years ahead.
The second major airport hub in the Delhi-NCR region would ease crowding, cut waiting times and reduce bottlenecks during peak hours. Shorter queues at check-in and security, quicker baggage handling, wider flight choices and more competitive ticket prices would help ease congestion.

Noida International Airport
Located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, Noida International Airport is one of the largest aviation hubs. Once it will become fully operational, it can significantly boost connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). As per media reports, authorities are currently carrying out final checks to ensure infrastructure readines and complete security.
Noida International Airport is among the largest greenfield airport projects in India. Phase I of Noida International Airport has been developed at a total investment of around Rs 11,200 crore under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Jewar's Noida International Airport: Key Features
The airport will initially have a passenger handling capacity of 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), with scalability up to 70 MPPA upon full development. It features a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft, along with modern navigation systems including Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting to support efficient, all-weather, round-the-clock operations.
The Noida International Airport's inauguration would also help in easing congestion at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Delhi's IGI airport has long served as the main gateway for North India, handling almost all international and domestic traffic for Delhi NCR. While operations remain stable, rising passenger numbers mean IGI is working near its limits.
Noida International Airport will function as Delhi NCR's second international airport and will operate alongside IGI, sharing the load rather than replacing existing services.
Noida International Airport Location
The international airport is built near the Yamuna Expressway and is close to key cities in western Uttar Pradesh. Planned links include major highways, metro services and rail networks that will plug into regional transport systems. For people in Noida, Greater Noida, Agra and nearby districts, Jewar could soon become the closest and most practical departure point.
Noida International Airport As Cargo Hub
The airport will also serve as more than a passenger terminal and a crucial cargo hub. The plan to build Noida International airport as a cargo hub includes the development of an Integrated Cargo Terminal and a multi-modal logistics hub designed to support both domestic and international freight. Initial cargo capacity is projected at 2.5 lakh metric tonnes per year, with a planned expansion path up to 18 lakh metric tonnes annually as demand increases.
