The National Stock Exchange (NSE) will conduct a mock trading session today, August 30, 2025, covering all major segments, including equity, commodity, and currency derivatives. This scheduled NSE mock trading session is being held to test the trading system stability, validate contingency procedures, and prepare for the mandatory migration to NEAT+ version 7.8.3, effective from September 6, 2025 according to a exchange's release.

Purpose of NSE Mock Trading 2025
The upcoming NSE mock trading on August 30, 2025, has been planned to ensure that all trading systems are ready for smooth operations under real market conditions. The exchange clarified that this is purely a testing session, meaning no financial obligations will arise from the trades carried out. The trades will not lead to settlement, and all prices generated during the mock trading will only be for simulation purposes.
The session will also allow members to prepare for the NEAT+ 7.8.3 upgrade, which will go live on September 6, 2025.
NSE Mock Trading Timings For Capital Market Segment
In the capital market segment, the NSE mock trading session will begin early in the morning with the block deal window opening at 8:45 a.m. and closing at 9:00 a.m. This will be followed by the pre-open session, which runs from 9:00 a.m. until a random close at 9:08 a.m.
The normal market hours for the mock session will open at 9:15 a.m. and continue until 10:10 a.m. Additionally, the auction market will function from 9:30 a.m. to 10:05 a.m. Traders will also be able to make modifications to trades until 10:40 a.m. A special live re-login window has been allotted between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to help members check their system readiness for the next trading day.
NSE Mock Trading Timings for Commodity Derivatives Segment
For the commodity derivatives market, the mock trading session will open at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 10:10 a.m. Members will be allowed to make position limit adjustments and collateral submissions until 10:20 a.m., which is also the cut-off time for trade modifications.
A re-login window will again be provided between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., similar to the equity segment, so that trading members can test their logins and ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
Instructions for NSE Members
The NSE circular of August 2025 has made it clear that all trading members are expected to actively participate in this mock trading drill. Brokers must log in to their respective systems, execute test trades, and complete modifications during the session. The purpose of this exercise is to ensure that both members and the exchange are fully prepared for real-time contingencies.
It is important to note that there will be no fund movements or trade settlements during the mock session. This drill is purely for testing and system validation.
