Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated various projects of the Odisha Mining Corporation, including quality control labs, sample processing units, a chrome ore beneficiation plant, mobile health units, and laid the foundation stone for the corporate office in Bhubaneswar.

Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated several projects of the state-run Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) on Monday. The projects included seven quality control labs, 10 sample processing units, a chrome ore beneficiation plant, and six mobile health units.
Corporate Office Building
Patnaik also laid the foundation stone for the corporate office of the OMC at Jayadev Vihar in the state capital, Bhubaneswar. The building will be constructed on six acres of land and is designed to enhance the city's landscape.
OMC's Contributions
Patnaik commended the OMC for its contributions to the economy, sustainable mining practices, and social welfare initiatives. He highlighted the corporation's efforts in sports, health, education, and periphery development, including the establishment of five CBSE-affiliated fully residential schools for children in mining areas.
Mobile Health Units
The chief minister emphasized the significance of the mobile health units in providing healthcare services to villagers residing near OMC's operational areas. These units will bring medical facilities to their doorsteps.
Chrome Ore Beneficiation Plant and Quality Control Labs
The chrome ore beneficiation plant in South Kaliapani and the quality control labs will enhance transparency and expedite the delivery of high-quality raw materials to user industries.
OMC's Performance
Patnaik noted that the OMC, as the fourth largest mining company in India, achieved remarkable success in the last fiscal year. The corporation produced over 30 million tons of ores and generated a turnover of more than Rs 14,000 crore.
