Due to consistent heavy rainfall because of cyclone Ditwah that has gripped the entire state of Tamil Nadu, all schools in Chennai and the districts affected by the heavy rain will remain closed on Thursday, 4 December.
The Chennai weather today experienced intense showers with waterlogging, and thunderstorm activity was reported since early morning. However, colleges in Chennai will function as usual, as no blanket closure has been issued for higher education institutions.

Local authorities declared a rain holiday for students as multiple low-lying neighbourhoods in South Chennai are experiencing water stagnation, with corporation teams deploying pumps to clear accumulated water and maintain road access. Officials have urged residents to remain cautious while travelling, especially in areas prone to flooding, slippery roads, and poor visibility.
