The Winter session of Parliament began on Monday, December 1, featuring 15 sittings over 19 days. Thirteen bills are set for discussion, including the National Highways Amendment) Bill and the Atomic Energy Bill. Other bills on the agenda are the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, the Insurance Laws (Amendment), and the Higher Education Commission of India Bill, 2025.
"This winter session isn't just a ritual...India has lived democracy. The zeal and enthusiasm of democracy have been expressed time and again in such a way that faith in democracy continues to grow stronger," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address on Monday.

In the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to introduce two significant bills: the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill and the Health Security and National Security Cess Bill, 2025. These bills are part of the legislative agenda for the session.
Supplementary Demands for Grants
During the session, members will also discuss and vote on the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the fiscal year 2025-26. This discussion is crucial for addressing any additional financial requirements the government might have during this period.
Yesterday, an all-party meeting took place in New Delhi, aimed at ensuring smooth proceedings in both Houses of Parliament. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh led the meeting, attended by 50 leaders from 36 political parties, showcasing a collaborative effort to ensure the session's success.
Government's Call for Cooperation
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju spoke to reporters following the meeting. He urged all political parties' floor leaders to cooperate for a seamless Winter Session. "The Government is prepared and ready to discuss any other important issue on the floors of the Houses as per the rules of both Houses," he stated.
The gathering reflected the government's commitment to ensuring effective legislative processes. By involving leaders from diverse political backgrounds, the government seeks to facilitate constructive dialogue and consensus-building throughout the session.
