If you buy one litre of petrol in Delhi, you need to pay Rs 96.72 while for 1 litre of diesel you need to shell out Rs 89.62. In the Mumbai metropolitan city, petrol costs Rs 111.35 per litre and diesel is priced at Rs 97.28 litre.
Now prices of petrol and diesel continue to remain same as on July 2, 2022. It is worth specifying that the cost of petrol and diesel have remained unchanged ever since finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a cut in excise duty on petrol and diesel. The finance minister declared an excuse duty cut on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre on diesel earlier this year on May 21. The price of petrol is highest in Mumbai. The price differ from city to city as a result of implementation of Value-Added Tax (VAT)
The leading public sector oil marketing companies such as Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise prices of fuel everyday keeping in line with benchmark global prices and foreign exchange rates. If any changes in the prices of petrol and diesel occur, it is implemented at 6 AM everyday.
