Petrol Prices Continue To Surge Despite Falling Crude Internationally

Petrol prices have again been hiked today (July 17, 2021) after remaining static on the previous day. Nonetheless, diesel rates are left untouched. Fuel rates are generally being hiked every alternate day. After the latest hike, check petrol and diesel rate below:

In Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, petrol prices are now above the unprecedented Rs. 110 mark. And in Sri Ganganagar district of Rajasthan, petrol is costliest at Rs. 113.21 per litre.

Of the total cost of fuel, 54%-60% is accounted by state and central taxes, rest is dealer commission and freight charges.

Since 2017, prices have been following dynamic model where rates of fuel are revised everyday on the basis of crude rates internationally.

In the international markets, crude prices have been losing ground after hitting multi-year highs following concerns of delta variant of Covid 19 and excess supply. WTI benchmark of crude was retailing at $71.43 per bbl while the brent crude was at $73.11 per barrel level.
