In a bid to strengthen economic, tourism, and business ties, Dubai has announced a five-year multiple-entry visa for Indian citizens. The move comes as a response to the exceptional growth in visitors from India, which made the country the number one source market for the city-state, with a 34% year-on-year increase in 2023.
The new visa program, introduced by Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism, aims to foster sustained economic collaborations, encourage tourism, and provide operational flexibility for seamless connectivity between India and Dubai. Here are the key points of this initiative.

Five-Year Multiple-Entry Visa
Dubai's five-year multiple-entry visa is a game-changer in the effort to deepen the ties between the two nations. The visa, issued within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request, allows the holder to stay in the country for 90 days, extendable once for a similar period. The total stay should not exceed 180 days in one year.
Growth And Performance
In 2023, India continued to be the number one source market for Dubai, witnessing a 34% year-on-year growth. The city hosted 2.46 million tourists from India, marking an increase from 1.84 million in the previous year and 1.97 million in 2019.
This outstanding performance played a significant role in Dubai's tourism sector achieving a 19.4% growth. The city welcomed a total of 17.15 million international overnight visitors in 2023, surpassing the 14.36 million arrivals in 2022.
Operational Flexibility
The five-year multiple-entry visa offers operational flexibility for both business engagements and leisure travel. This flexibility facilitates seamless connectivity, allowing tourists to leverage multiple entries and exits. This feature makes it significantly easier for travellers to move between India and Dubai, promoting a smoother travel experience.
Economic Collaboration
The new visa program is expected to serve as a catalyst for increased economic collaboration between India and Dubai. By providing a platform for longer stays and enriching experiences for Indian tourists, the visa aims to deepen the ties and open doors for enhanced bilateral relations.
Amplifying Awareness Dubai's Offerings
The extended duration of the visa is anticipated to further amplify awareness about Dubai's diverse offerings, multicultural setting, and abundance of hotels and attractions. This, in turn, is likely to solidify Dubai's position as the top travel choice for Indian tourists, offering an array of experiences for every traveller.
In addition to the traditional attractions, Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism believes that the extended stay will allow Indian tourists to explore and experience the city's culture, technological advancements, and the unique blend of tradition and modernity.
The announcement of the five-year multiple-entry visa for Indian citizens is a significant step towards strengthening the ties between India and Dubai. As the city continues to break tourism records and witness substantial growth, the visa program is poised to contribute to the economic development and cultural exchange between these two dynamic nations.
