In order to promote drone segment in the country, the ministry of civil aviation has invited application for PLI or Production Linked Incentive scheme. The ministry said the eligible manufacturers will need to submit the form for claiming such incentives at civilaviation.gov.in/application-pli-scheme.

As per the terms of the PLI, the incentives shall be 20% of the 'value addition' made by the company during the next 3 year. This latest PLI scheme is in fact an extension of the earlier easy Drone Rules, 2021 to give a boost to drone technology that finds application across sectors.
This value addition shall be computed based on the annual sales revenue from drones and drone components less the purchase cost of drone and drone components.
The deadline for the said application is March 31, 2022 and needs to be filed in a single page form together with the certificate from the organisation's head and the statutory auditor.
Importantly, the outlay for the scheme is pegged at Rs. 120 crore to be doled out in 3 fiscal years.
