Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a PRAGATI meeting on Wednesday to review the progress of eight key infrastructure projects spread across seven states. The projects have a cumulative worth of around Rs 31,000 crore, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).
Focus on Water Supply, Irrigation, Highways, and Connectivity

Among the eight projects reviewed, four were related to water supply and irrigation, two to the expansion of national highways and connectivity, and two to rail and metro rail connectivity. These projects are located in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
Leveraging Technology for Efficient Implementation
During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of leveraging technology for efficient implementation and planning of infrastructure projects. He highlighted the potential of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan Portal, in conjunction with technologies like satellite imagery, to address issues related to location and land requirements for projects.
Coordination and Collaboration
The Prime Minister also stressed the need for better coordination and collaboration among stakeholders involved in executing projects in high population-density urban areas. He suggested appointing nodal officers and forming teams to ensure smooth coordination and timely completion of projects.
Learning from Successful Rehabilitation and Reconstruction
For irrigation projects, Prime Minister Modi advised organizing visits for stakeholders to successful rehabilitation and reconstruction projects. Showcasing the transformational impact of such projects can motivate stakeholders and encourage them to expedite the execution of ongoing projects.
Mobile Towers and 4G Coverage
During the interaction, the Prime Minister reviewed the status of Mobile Towers and 4G Coverage under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) Projects. The USOF aims to provide mobile connectivity in underserved areas by installing mobile towers in uncovered villages. Prime Minister Modi directed officials to ensure the establishment of mobile towers in all uncovered villages within the current financial year through regular meetings with stakeholders.
Review of PRAGATI Meetings
Up to the 43rd edition of PRAGATI meetings, 348 projects with a total cost of Rs 17.36 lakh crore have been reviewed. These meetings provide a platform for proactive governance and timely implementation of projects involving the Centre and states.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on leveraging technology, coordination among stakeholders, and learning from successful projects showcases his commitment to efficient and timely execution of infrastructure development in India. The review of key projects under the PRAGATI initiative reflects the government's focus on improving water supply, irrigation, highways, and connectivity across the country.
