Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 on Easter Monday. The first Latin American to lead the Roman Catholic Church was battling a prolonged illness for a long time. Pope Francis took his last breath at 7:35 am at his residence on Easter Monday (April 21), announced the Vatican today.
""Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow, I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father," said Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Apostolic Chamber, who spoke these words at the Casa Santa Marta.

"His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of His Church. He taught us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage, and universal love, especially in favour of the poorest and most marginalised. With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of the One and Triune God," he added.

Pope Francis usually get paid a handsome salary and his wage was supposed to be more than $32,000 per month, reported Marca. However, once he took the position as the leader of the catholic church, he detached himself from all type of luxury and wages from the church. Hence, he refused to get the designated monthly pay fixed for the position holder, Marca report added.
Instead of receiving the money, Pope, announced to donate the money for welfare purposes and use it to endow a foundation, placed in trust or to pass it on to a family member.
As he gave up on his salary as Pope Francis, his net worth stood at $100, according to Celebrity Networth. The report also added that he never received any salary and has taken a vow of poverty and lives a modest life. Generally, cardinals at the Vatican can receive monthly salaries of roughly $4,700 to $5,900.

Pope Francis was born as Jorge Mario Bergoglio on December 17, 1936, to Mario José Bergoglio and Regina María Sívori, in Flores, a neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.
Twenty two years later, he found his inspiration to become a priest when he was on his way to celebrate the Sprng Day. During the celebration, went to the church and the day changed his life forever. The church priest, whom he met on that day, had left an indelible impact on his life. According to Wikipedia, he studied at the archdiocesan seminary, Inmaculada Concepción Seminary, in Villa Devoto, Buenos Aires, and, after three years, entered the Society of Jesus as a novice on 11 March 1958.

Pope Francis will always be remembered as a beacon of compassion, humility and spiritual courage by millions across the world."
While recalling his last meeting with Pope Francis, PM Modi wrote, "I fondly recall my meetings with him and was greatly inspired by his commitment to inclusive and all-round development. His affection for the people of India will always be cherished. May his soul find eternal."

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed grief and said, "He inspired millions, far beyond the Catholic Church, with his humility and love so pure for the less fortunate."
