PAN 2.0 Project: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the launch of PAN 2.0 on Monday, introducing a major upgrade to the existing PAN card with the addition of a QR code. The enhanced PAN card will serve as a common business identifier across all digital systems used by government agencies, streamlining processes and ensuring seamless integration for taxpayers.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given a green signal to the PAN 2.0 Project for the Income Tax Department by allocating a substantial Rs 1,435 crore to the project as stated in the official release. This initiative by the government of India is all set to transform the current taxpayer registration system with enhanced technology, making the entire process even smoother for common people.

Is Your Old PAN Card Still Valid?
Yes, your old PAN card remains fully valid and functional. The PAN 2.0 initiative is an upgrade designed to enhance the functionality of PAN cards, including the introduction of a QR code for improved digital integration.
