Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express, India's second private express, was prohibited on 17th January 2020 and began commercial activity as of 19th January 2020. IRCTC Tejas Express: India's first two private trains, owned and operated by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC)- Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express and Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, run well on the Indian Railways platform. VK Yadav, Chairman of the Board of the Railways said to Financial Express Online: "The newly launched Ahmedabad Mumbai Tejas Express is fine, it's a passenger success.

"The Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, introduced last October, has been slow to start owing to fog-related problems. The new trains are currently occupying about 90%. Yet Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express demand has now been picked up, "he added India's second private express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express, was off signalled on January 17, 2020, and began its commercial operations from January 19, 2020. The train is completely air-conditioned and comprises of two coaches for the Executive Chair Car and eight coaches for the Chair Car.

The train's Executive Chair Car coaches each have as many as 56 seats, while the Chair Car coaches will have as many as 78 seats. Ironically, a free Rail Travel Insurance of up to Rs 25 lakhs is given to all travelling passengers. In fact, it also offers preferential compensation of Rs 1 lakh during the passenger's travel time against household burglary or robbery. The IRCTC's private trains feature a range of comfortable facilities including CCTVs; tea and coffee sellers; automatic doors for entering and leaving, wide glass-bottom luggage racks, flexible toilet facilities, sliding doors and sliding doors; mobile charging points; telephone buttons; personalized reading lights; customized LED entertainment and information screens. Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, the first private train in the world, was introduced on 4 October 2019.
