Ayodhya, the revered city of Lord Ram and one of the Saptapuris is on the precipice of a historic event, marking the culmination of a 500-year-long struggle. As the anticipation builds for Lord Ram's grand appearance in his palace on January 22 from 12:15 to 12:45 pm, the city is abuzz with preparations, discussions, and questions, including the appropriate attire for worship.
The Saptapuris, or the seven holy cities in India, are considered the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Ayodhya, among these cities, holds a special place as the religious epicentre where Lord Ram is believed to have been born.

In light of the upcoming consecration ceremony, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to allocate Rs 90 crore for advanced security equipment and infrastructure. Cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be integrated to bolster security measures during the event. A significant deployment of 15,000 personnel is also planned to ensure comprehensive security and the seamless execution of the ceremony, as reported by various media outlets.
A question that has occupied the minds of many devotees is the appropriate dress code for worshipping Lord Ram in Ayodhya and how one can participate in the darshan of Ram Lala through attire. Unlike some temples that enforce specific dress codes, the Ram Mandir Trust overseeing Ayodhya's Ram temple has not mandated any particular dress code. This inclusive approach allows individuals of any gender or age to enter the temple dressed in accordance with Indian tradition.
Prakash Gupta, the office in charge of the Ram Mandir Trust, clarified that while there is no prescribed dress code, visitors are expected to adhere to cultural norms. The emphasis is on ensuring that the body is appropriately covered, with no exposed body parts. This flexibility in attire aligns with the inclusive spirit of Ayodhya's Ram Mandir, which welcomes devotees from diverse backgrounds.
However, stringent security measures are in place to safeguard the sanctity of the sacred space. Electronic items, including earphones, mobile phones, watches, and remote keys, are strictly prohibited within the temple premises. Devotees seeking entry into the Ram temple complex must comply with these security standards, underscoring the commitment to ensuring a secure environment for worship.
As Ayodhya prepares for this momentous occasion, the city remains a focal point for devotees from across the globe. The grandeur of Lord Ram taking his seat in the newly constructed temple is set to draw global attention to Ayodhya.
As the city braces for the historic event on January 22, it invites devotees to partake in the celebration, respecting both the religious and security aspects that contribute to the sanctity of the occasion.
