The process of ITR filing is complete after the filer verifies the same and many a times the process remains pending at this front. And giving a breather for all the tax returns filed for AY 2015-16 to 2019-20, the department has allowed now a one-time relaxation i.e. such a process can be completed until September 30, 2020

In a general case, such income tax returns for which the ITR V form is not received by the CPC Bangalore they are declared non-est or invalid. So, here are few facts that you should know:
1. For all electronically filed ITRs without a digital signature the ITR needs to be verified within a period of 120 days from the date of uploading the return. The verification can be done by six of the processes including OTP, aadhaar among others
2. The relaxation is not applicable where the department has resorted to other measures for filing of tax return by the taxpayer after the return was declared Non-est.
3. Also, without the ITR processing, any of the claimed refunds have also got stuck. So this way processing of all such ITRs for specified assessment years may be processed until December 31, 2020. Further, CBDT, also relaxes the time-frame for issuing the intimation as provided in second proviso to sub-section (1) of Section 143 of the Act and directs that such returns shall be processed by 31.12.2020 and intimation of processing of such returns shall be sent to the taxpayer concerned as per the laid down procedure. In refund cases, while determining the interest, provision of section 244A (2) of the Act would apply.
4. And if even after the relaxation taxpayers do not use the opportunity and verify their ITR then they may be a sent for non-filing of ITR.
