Rupee Opens Sharply Higher At 73.81 Per Dollar

Rupee in Wednesday's trade opened higher at 73.80 per dollar versus its earlier close of 74.11.

After coronavirus has been weighing on economic strength across the world for some time now, rupee has been losing ground. Nonetheless, there is seen some respite among all the Asian currencies even as the world continues to grapple with the deadly infection.

Oil in Asian markets has been gaining ground and in today's session it has gained as much as 3% after there has been hints of measures to stabilise the crude markets.

In the bond market, the yield on government bond opened at 6.09% versus its previous close of 6.07%.

Meanwhile, indices in the pre-opening saw negative opening with loss of close to 1% on Sensex.
