Rupee Tumbles Below 74 Mark Per Dollar; Weak Equities Weigh

Indian rupee opens at its weakest at 73.94 versus its previous close of 73.35 per dollar. It surpasses levels of 74 against the dollar at 9:26 am.

Across the global sell-off together with weakness in the Indian markets is adding to the woes of the Indian currency.

Rupee Tumbles Below 74 Mark Per Dollar

In the bond market, the yield on 10-year bonds stood at 6.14%.

Meanwhile, its again a black Friday for the stock markets, with Sensex and Nifty in early trade down over 3% each. The street has probably discounted the difficulty at Yes Bank and also reacted to global cues which saw US stocks tumbling by as much as 700 points.
