The NFO period runs from February 6 to 20, with a target of Rs 3,500-4,000 crore in primary subscription. The fund seeks wider coverage and subscriptions from at least 90% of pin codes and 2.5-3 lakh investors.
Mumbai, February 5: SBI Mutual Fund, India's largest fund house, announced its plans to launch a new energy-themed fund, aiming to garner Rs 3,500-4,000 crore in primary subscriptions. The SBI Energy Opportunities Fund, an open-ended scheme, will invest in a diverse mix of domestic and international companies involved in various energy-related activities.

Investment Strategy
The fund will focus on companies engaged in exploration, production, distribution, transportation, and processing of traditional and new energy sources. This includes sectors such as oil and gas, utilities, and power, among others. The fund aims to capitalize on the growing demand for energy and the transition towards sustainable energy sources.
Fund Details and Objectives
The new fund offer (NFO) for the SBI Energy Opportunities Fund will open on February 6 and close on February 20, as confirmed by Shamsher Singh, the Managing Director & Chief Executive of SBI Mutual Fund. While the fund targets a primary subscription of Rs 3,500-4,000 crore, the primary focus is on achieving wider coverage and attracting subscriptions from at least 90% of the pin codes and 2.5-3 lakh investors, as stated by D P Singh, the Deputy Managing Director & Joint Chief Executive.
Growth Potential in the Energy Sector
The energy sector presents a long-term growth opportunity as India strives to transition from being energy-deficient to self-sufficient. The country's commitments to green energy initiatives, such as COP26, the Green Hydrogen Mission, and the ethanol blending program, along with focused policy initiatives in traditional energy sectors, provide tailwinds for the growth of the energy sector. The fund offers investors a chance to participate in the growth story of the domestic energy sector, which has witnessed significant progress in terms of infrastructure and policy reforms, leading to improved profitability.
Investment Allocation
The scheme will primarily allocate 80 to 100% of its assets in equity and equity-related instruments of companies engaged in traditional and new energy-related businesses. The remaining portion will be invested in other equity and equity-related instruments, including equity derivatives, debt securities, securitized debt, debt derivatives, and money market instruments.
SBI Mutual Fund's new energy-themed fund provides investors with an opportunity to tap into the growth potential of the energy sector. With its focus on both traditional and new energy sources, the fund aims to capitalize on the evolving energy landscape and contribute to India's journey towards energy self-sufficiency.
