Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently visited Ericsson's booth at the India Mobile Congress. He shared a post on X about Rocky, a 5G-powered robotic dog developed by the company. Scindia expressed his enthusiasm for Rocky, stating, "Meet my new friend Rocky, Ericssons 5G-powered robotic dog that assists with efficient emergency response. By sending alerts in time, it can help authorities deal with emergency situations like fire outbreaks," in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
India Mobile Congress and Technological Innovations
The India Mobile Congress (IMC) is Asia's largest digital technology forum. It is organised annually by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The event serves as a platform for showcasing innovative technologies and advancements in the digital sector.
During the eighth edition of IMC, Scindia interacted with Chief Ministers, State Government IT Ministers, and IT Secretaries. These meetings focused on discussing best practices for telecom infrastructure development and aligning government policies with state strengths.
Collaborative Efforts for Telecom Sector Growth
Scindia emphasised the importance of incentivising Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and strengthening the #MakeInIndia initiative. He aims to position India as a leading product nation through these efforts. The Minister also expressed his eagerness to collaborate with all States and Union Territories to build a robust, secure, and sustainable telecom sector.
At the Ericsson booth, Scindia received a demonstration of Rocky's capabilities. Officials explained how the 5G-powered robotic dog functions during emergencies. After witnessing its operation, Scindia patted Rocky, acknowledging its potential in enhancing emergency response systems.
The discussions at IMC also highlighted aligning government policies with states' innate strengths. This approach aims to foster growth in telecom infrastructure development across different regions of India.
The event underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between government bodies and industry leaders. Such partnerships are crucial for advancing India's position in the global digital landscape.
The India Mobile Congress continues to be a vital platform for showcasing technological innovations. It brings together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for enhancing India's digital infrastructure and capabilities.
