The Chief Electoral Officer's office in Uttarakhand has initiated preparations for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, even as the Election Commission of India is yet to announce the official dates. The state's voter portal now features electoral rolls from both 2003 and 2025, enabling smoother verification and correction once the SIR begins.
Uttarakhand SIR 2025: Government Allows Name Updates for Families; 2003 Voter List Verification Simplified
Officials are identifying and separating identical names that appear in both the 2003 and 2025 voter lists. Families that have undergone name changes since 2003 are being given an opportunity to update their details in advance, which is expected to reduce future disputes. Verification for the children of voters listed in 2003 will be easier, as they will not be required to submit documents during the verification process.

During the SIR, all voters will be required to fill out a form. However, only those whose names were added to the voter list after 2003 will need to submit documents. Voters whose parents appeared in the 2003 roll will be exempt from document submission, simplifying the verification procedure.
