Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently engaged in discussions with Spanish Ambassador Juan Antonio March Pujol. The meeting aimed to strengthen ties between Odisha and Spain, with a focus on technology-driven partnerships. Majhi expressed optimism about the collaboration reaching new levels soon.

The dialogue highlighted Spain's interest in forming long-term partnerships, particularly in metallurgy and refractory solutions. A statement from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed these discussions. Majhi mentioned TIMAB Magnesium India's investment in Khurda, where a Rs 90-crore refractory unit is being established.
Investment Opportunities in Renewable Energy
Majhi encouraged Spanish companies like Siemens Gamesa, Acciona, and Iberdrola to consider investing in Odisha's renewable energy sector. He highlighted opportunities in solar parks, offshore wind projects, and green hydrogen initiatives. The state's new renewable energy policy was also showcased to the Spanish delegation.
The Chief Minister extended invitations to Spanish apparel brands such as ZARA, Desigual, and Mango. He urged them to explore sourcing hubs and joint innovation centres within Odisha's integrated textile parks. This initiative aims to boost the state's textile industry by leveraging international expertise.
Advantages of Odisha's Skilled Workforce
During the meeting, Odisha's skilled workforce and proactive policy framework were presented as significant advantages for potential investors. These factors are seen as key drivers for attracting foreign investments and fostering industrial growth in the state.
The discussions underscored Odisha's dedication to establishing high-value partnerships with Spain. This commitment is expected to pave the way for enhanced industrial, technological, and cultural collaborations between the two regions.
The meeting set the stage for a promising chapter of cooperation between Odisha and Spain. Both parties are keen on exploring various sectors for mutual benefit, aiming to create a robust partnership that benefits both economies.
