The start of September has been broadly positive tone for the Indian stock market. The market started the month with Sensex hitting a new lifetime high of 82,725.28 and Nifty50 touching a fresh record of 25,333.65 on September 2nd, the first trading session of the month. On Tuesday, September 3rd, the market was flat. In the current month, trading on BSE and NSE will be closed for nine days.
However, it needs to be noted that there will be no special holidays on the weekdays which are usually trading sessions of the stock market.

There are two major occasions where bank branches will be closed, especially in Maharashtra, Mumbai, the headquarters of BSE and NSE. These are - Ganesh Chaturthi and Ganesh Visarjan
While Ganesh Chaturthi is going to be celebrated on September 7th, Saturday, market will be automatically closed due to default holidays. However, there is no market holiday on Ganesh Visarjan which will be celebrated on September 17, Tuesday. Other key occasions like Onam, Id-e Milad, Pang-Lhabsol, and Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi Day will also be widely honoured and celebrated in India. But markets will be still opened.
There is bank holiday on September 25th due to General Elections to the State Legislative Assembly 2024. But BSE and NSE is yet to notify if trading will be allowed on this day, hence, it will be keenly watched.
That being said, markets will be closed only on weekends this month. The dates are - September 1, September 7, September 8, September 14, September 15, September 21, September 22, September 28, and September 29. Trading will be closed in equity, equity derivatives, SLB, commodities, currency, and currency derivatives on these days.
Rest of the days, Indian stock market will be opened.
