In India, the buying and selling of stocks is done on two stock markets namely, The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). It oversees the trading and market activities and ensures that it is done in a fair and transparent manner and thus acts as a watchdog of the exchanges in India. Trading Hours In The NSE
The pre-open session marks the beginning, allowing for order entry and modifications from 09:00 to 09:08 hrs, with a possibility of random closure in the last one minute. Pre-open order matching commences immediately after the close of pre-open order entry.
After this, the regular trading session starts, with the normal or limited physical market opening at 09:15 hrs and concluding at 15:30 hrs.
After the regular trading session, there's a closing session that is held between 15:40 hrs and 16:00 hrs, facilitating final trades and adjustments before market closure.
For block deals, there are two windows allotted during the day. The morning window operates from 08:45 AM to 09:00 AM, while the afternoon window operates from 02:05 PM to 2:20 PM.
