The shares of Diffusion Engineers Limited made a promising debut on October 4, listing at Rs 193.50 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE), reflecting a 15.2% premium over the IPO issue price of Rs 168. On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the stock opened at Rs 188, marking a 12% rise. The strong listing highlights strong investor demand for the Rs 158 crore initial public offering (IPO), which was open for subscription from September 26 to September 30, 2024.
The Diffusion Engineers IPO witnessed overwhelming demand across all investor categories. The issue was subscribed a massive 213.41 times, receiving bids for 234.59 crore shares against the 1.09 crore shares on offer. Retail investors eagerly participated, with their quota subscribed 96.74 times. Non-institutional investors (NIIs) showed even greater enthusiasm, subscribing 430.54 times, while qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) booked 253.04 times their reserved portion.

The IPO price was set in the range of Rs 159 to Rs 168 per share, with the final offer price fixed at the upper band. Retail investors were required to place a minimum bid for 88 shares, amounting to an investment of Rs 14,784. Diffusion Engineers offered a reservation of up to 50,000 shares for employees, with a discount of Rs 8 per share to the issue price.
Proceeds from the IPO will be directed toward expanding the company's manufacturing capacity. Diffusion Engineers plans to enhance its existing facility at Khapri (Uma), Nagpur, Maharashtra, and establish a new manufacturing plant in Nagpur to meet the growing demand for its products. A portion of the funds will also be allocated to bolster working capital requirements and support general corporate initiatives.
Established in 1982, Diffusion Engineers specializes in manufacturing welding consumables, wear plates, and parts for heavy machinery. The company also provides repair and reconditioning services for industrial equipment. With four manufacturing facilities, three of which are located in Nagpur's Hingna Industrial Area, Diffusion Engineers has carved a strong niche in its industry.
The company ranks among the top three players in its sector in terms of CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) for operating income, profitability, and EBITDA between FY21 and FY24. Diffusion Engineers has shown impressive revenue growth, with a CAGR of 16.6% from FY22 to FY24, and its profit after tax (PAT) surged from Rs 17 crore in FY22 to Rs 30.80 crore in FY24.
