With 70% of employees feeling happy at work, the survey emphasizes the importance of leadership in creating a positive work environment. Factors like meaningful work, skill utilization, and teamwork also contribute to employee contentment.

A recent report has revealed that a majority of employees in India believe that supportive managers play a crucial role in contributing to their happiness at work. The report, conducted by global job site Indeed, surveyed 1,219 employers and 2,537 employees across various sectors in the country.

Happy Employees: The Secret Ingredient is Supportive Managers

Key Findings:

The survey found that a significant 70% of employees reported feeling happy and content at work, while 30% expressed some level of dissatisfaction. Interestingly, 58% of employees surveyed believe that their work significantly contributes to their overall happiness.

Over 95% of employees feel that managers hold the primary responsibility for ensuring employee happiness, emphasizing the importance of leadership in fostering a positive work environment.

Besides supportive managers, other factors that contribute to employee happiness include meaningful work, utilizing skills, facing challenges, being creative, and working with a good team.

Employees with over 15 years of experience (74%) and those with 0-2 years (54%) reported higher levels of unhappiness compared to their counterparts with moderate experience.

Sectors such as FMCG (81%), IT/ITeS (81%), Consumer Durables (80%), and Retail (78%) have higher levels of happy employees compared to Automobile (59%), Logistics (58%), and Construction and Real Estate (58%).

Happiness levels are higher in small (73%) and large (79%) organizations, while medium-sized ones (61%) struggle relatively to maintain employee happiness.
