In a recent development, the Singapore-based ship management firm, Synergy Marine Group, has been actively addressing the needs of the crew aboard the container ship Dali, following an incident involving the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore on March 26. The company has assured that all crew members are in good health and are contributing to the investigation and ongoing salvage efforts.

The Singapore-flagged container ship Dali, with IMO number 9697428, collided with a pillar of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing concern over the welfare of the 20 Indian crew members onboard. Amidst reports that the crew was unable to support their families back in India due to confiscated phones, Synergy Marine Group has stepped in to provide necessary assistance and support.
According to Synergy Marine Group, there is a concerted effort to ensure the well-being of the crew, stating, "As managers we are working hard to address all the crews needs...all crew are in good health and are holding up well." The duration of the investigation remains uncertain; however, the company is committed to keeping the crew onboard with continued care and support until they can safely return home.
The company also addressed concerns regarding communication with families. On April 15, following the retention of crew members' phones by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Synergy Marine Group promptly provided replacement phones to ensure that crew members could stay in touch with their loved ones. Additionally, measures have been taken to monitor both physical and mental health closely, with round-the-clock counselling services made available to the crew.
To alleviate increased workload and stress levels among the crew due to a higher number of visitors onboard for investigation and salvage operations, two additional deck crew members have been deployed. This strategic move aims to provide more downtime for the existing crew.
Immediately after the incident was reported, representatives from Synergy Marine Group were dispatched to Baltimore to safeguard the interests of the crew. This proactive approach underscores the company's commitment to its crew's welfare amidst challenging circumstances.
The incident and subsequent actions taken by Synergy Marine Group highlight the complexities and challenges faced by maritime professionals. The company's efforts to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of its crew while cooperating with investigative authorities demonstrate a balanced approach to crisis management in maritime operations.
