Tamil Nadu school holiday today: Schools, colleges, and educational institutions in parts of Tamil Nadu are seeing a closure on Thursday, September 11 because of the 68th Commemoration Day of Martyr Emanuel Sekaran. The announcement was made by district collectors as this day is a significant occasion in Tamil Nadu.

Areas Where Schools and Colleges Are Closed
According to the official notice, educational institutions in Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai districts will remain shut today. The local administration has also clarified that the lost working day will be compensated by holding classes on Saturday, September 20th.
Ramanathapuram District: All schools and colleges in Paramakudi will observe a holiday.
Sivagangai District: Schools in Sivagangai, Thiruppuvanam, Manamadurai, and Ilayangudi taluks will remain closed.
Impact of School Holidays in Tamil Nadu on Students and Exams
This sudden school holiday comes at a time when half-yearly and quarterly exams are scheduled to take place in Tamil Nadu. As per a Jagran report on the state academic calendar, exams are scheduled between September 10 and September 29, 2025. School authorities are expected to make necessary adjustments to ensure students do not face disruptions in their exam schedules.

Tamil Nadu has a series of important public holidays lined up in October 2025. The next official holiday is Maha Navami, which will be observed on Wednesday, 1 October The very next day, Thursday, 2 October as the state will celebrate Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra) along with Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday celebrated across India to honor the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Later in the month Diwali/Deepavali, will be celebrated on Tuesday, 21 October
School Holidays in Tamil Nadu
Apart from national holidays, Tamil Nadu schools also observe regional holidays for local festivals, commemorations, and academic requirements. School and colleges in Tamil Nadu will remain closed on the occasion of dusshera, Gandhi jayanti which is also the national holiday and DIwali which is celebrated world wide.
