In a significant announcement made in Jamshedpur on March 23, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran outlined the conglomerate's ambitious plan to transition to 70% green energy by the year 2030. This declaration came during his address at the convocation ceremony of XLRI-Xavier School of Management, where Chandrasekaran was also honoured with the prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Social and Industrial Peace.

Chandrasekaran highlighted the critical transitions facing the world today, including those in energy, digital technology in the form of AI and machine learning, and supply chains. He emphasized India's unique position to invest in these transitions due to its geopolitical advantages. The Tata Group's commitment to achieving a substantial shift towards green energy is part of a broader strategy focusing on simplification, synergy, sustainability, supply chain transformation, and digital transformation.
The chairman's speech underscored the importance of integrity, sound strategy, great execution, good governance, and consistent practice in achieving these goals. He also imparted words of wisdom to the graduating students, urging them to adopt a positive attitude, a winning mindset, and a strong work ethic as they prepare to become the next generation of leaders. Chandrasekaran's message was clear: India awaits the contributions of these young leaders in shaping the future.
The convocation ceremony was a momentous occasion for 552 students who received their diplomas, marking the completion of their studies at XLRI-Xavier School of Management.
