Tata Power vs Torrent Power vs JSW Energy: Power stocks like Tata Power, Torrent Power and JSW Energy saw a sharp rally in Monday's trading session as the severe heatwave across India boosted India's power consumption over the past one week.

India's electricity system logged a new peak demand of 256 GW on Saturday, April 25, as harsh heatwave conditions persisted across many regions. The figure exceeded Friday's high of 252 GW and broke the earlier record of 250 GW set in May 2024.

The power ministry has projected a peak power requirement of 263 MW in April and 271 GW for the full year. These estimates indicate that pressure on generation and grid management remains intense as temperatures stay elevated.

Tata Power share price ended 4.31% higher at Rs 453.4 per share on BSE with a market capitalisation of Rs 1,44,876.7 crore on Monday, April 27. Torrent Power share price ended 4.14% higher at Rs 1769.4 per share, and JSW Energy share price ended 5.25% higher at Rs 573 per share.

All the power stock rallied during Monday's trading session. Tata Power stock's MCap stood at Rs 1,44,876.70 crore on BSE on Monday. Its Return on Equity (ROE) stood at 7.07%. Likewise its P/E stood at 27.58 (standalone).

Torrent Power share price rallied nearly 4.31% on April 27. Its market capitalisation stood at Rs 89,175.81 crore, and its RoE stood at 24.30%. Its PE stood at 27.58%.
JSW Energy share price's market capitalisation stood at Rs 1,00,815.86 crore. Its RoE stood at 4.13%, and its PE remained at 114.28 on Monday.

Tata Power share price has delivered close to 30.27% in three months and has surged 18.75% since the beginning of the year (YTD). Torrent Power's share price value has surged 33% YTD and has jumped 34% in one month. JSW Energy share price value has increased 30.56% in three months and has surged around 14% since the beginning of the year 2026.
