The 'Shahenshah of Bollywood,' Amitabh Bachchan has once again broken a record by being India's highest-paid celebrity for the fiscal year (FY) 2024-21. Bachchan, who is well-known for his amazing accomplishments on and off screen, has contributed ₹120 crore in taxes, which is a testament to his ongoing success from his many commercial endeavours and endorsement deals in addition to his successful blockbuster films. His substantial tax payment, which is in line with his total income of 350 crore this year, highlights his continued popularity in the entertainment sector.

According to Pinkvilla, a renowned entertainment and lifestyle platform, Bachchan has surpassed other Indian film celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan and Thalapathy Vijay, to claim the top rank. Last year, the iconic actor paid ₹71 crore in taxes, but this year he has experienced a staggering 69% increase, contributing ₹120 crore. On March 15, 2025, his last and final advance tax installment of ₹52.5 crore for this fiscal year was paid.
Amitabh Bachchan Replaces Shah Rukh Khan
In the previous fiscal year 2023-24, Shah Rukh Khan held the title of India's highest taxpayer celebrity, contributing ₹92 crore. However, this year, Big B outperformed Khan by 30%, with SRK contributing ₹84.17 crore. As a result, Amitabh Bachchan moved from the fourth position to claim the top spot in the list of highest tax-paying Indian celebrities. Other prominent Indian actors' names include Thalapathy Vijay, who paid ₹80 crore, and Salman Khan, who contributed ₹75 crore.
Sources of Amitabh Bachchan's Income
His sources of income are diverse, including films, brand endorsements, and his role as host of the show, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' (KBC). Bachchan recently appeared in Vettaiyan with Rajinikanth and is now hosting the 16th season of KBC. His return to the show next season has already been guaranteed, representing his unrivalled position in the Indian entertainment world.
This amazing achievement not only showcases Amitabh Bachchan's tremendous career, but it also gives a good example of financial discipline and success in the celebrity world. He has had an active influence in the Indian film business for more than the last five decades and is still considered one of its most prominent and respected veteran artists. His position as India's biggest taxpayer solidifies his status as one of Bollywood's most powerful figures.
