Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aircraft faced a terror threat just before his two-day visit to the United States, according to Mumbai Police. The individual responsible for the call has been apprehended and is reportedly suffering from mental illness. The incident occurred on 11th February when a warning was received at the Mumbai Police control room about a potential terrorist attack on PM Modi's aircraft as he was departing for an official trip abroad.
"On 11th February, a call was received at Mumbai Police control room warning that terrorists may attack PM Modi's aircraft as he was leaving on an official visit abroad. Considering the serious nature of the information, the Police informed other agencies and began an investigation," ANI reported quoting Mumbai Police.
Previous Threats Against PM Modi
This is not the first time that threats have been made against Prime Minister Modi's life. In December of last year, a threat was sent to the traffic police helpline. It included claims of a bomb plot involving two alleged ISI agents, according to officials. Such incidents have raised concerns over the security measures in place for high-profile figures.

Additionally, last year saw another arrest related to threats against PM Modi. A 34-year-old resident of Kandivli, Sheetal Chavan, was detained for allegedly threatening the prime minister's life. Chavan reportedly contacted the police control room, claiming possession of weapons ready for use.
Security Measures and Investigations
The recent threat prompted immediate action from law enforcement agencies. The Mumbai Police informed other relevant agencies and initiated an investigation into the matter. The suspect was taken into custody from Chembur area and is believed to be mentally unstable, as stated by the police.
The Prime Minister embarked on his four-day visit to France and the United States on Monday. His schedule includes a two-day stay in the US starting Wednesday. Despite these threats, such visits are crucial for diplomatic relations and international cooperation.
Ensuring safety during these trips remains a top priority for security agencies. They continue to monitor any potential threats closely and take necessary precautions to protect high-ranking officials like Prime Minister Modi.
