Tesla, the leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is reportedly in talks with the Indian government to establish a manufacturing plant in the country. The proposed factory would have an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 vehicles, marking a significant milestone for the EV industry in India, Reuters reported.
According to the report, the initial prices of Tesla vehicles are projected to begin at 2 million rupees ($24,400.66).

As it prepares to send cars to nations in the Indo-Pacific area, the business run by billionaire Elon Musk is also considering utilising India as an export hub, the article, which cited government sources, claimed.
The conversations with the Indian government indicate a change in the American electric car manufacturer's policy.
Last year, negotiations came to a halt after the Indian government rejected Tesla's demand for a reduction in the import duties on automobiles, which may be as high as 100%.
Tesla said it intended to export its cars first so that it could gauge the intensity of demand, despite India's desire for it to produce cars there.
Tesla held meetings in May with officials about incentives being offered by the government for car and battery manufacture in a renewed drive to enter the domestic market with a change of posture, according to Reuters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India urged Elon Musk to make a "significant investment" in the nation during their meeting last month.
After meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Elon Musk expressed his belief that India holds significant potential for a sustainable energy future, including solar power, stationary battery packs, and electric vehicles. Additionally, Musk stated his intention to introduce SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service to the country. These remarks indicate Musk's enthusiasm for India's renewable energy landscape and his commitment to expanding Tesla's and SpaceX's presence in the country.
