R K Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDC India Ltd, passed away on 15 November 2025. He was 58 and had been receiving medical care in New Delhi. Vishnoi had been leading the company since August 6, 2021. THDC India Ltd, a subsidiary of NTPC, manages thermal and renewable energy projects in several Indian states.

Vishnoi's passing is a significant loss to THDCIL and the broader Indian power sector. The company expressed its sorrow in a social media post, stating, "CMD R. K. Vishnoi left for his heavenly abode today 15-11-2025. We are deeply saddened by this irreplaceable loss to THDCIL family and the entire power sector of India." His contributions to the nation will be remembered with great respect.
Leadership and Contributions
Vishnoi's career at THDCIL began in 1989 when he joined as an engineer after graduating in Civil Engineering from BITS Pilani. Over the years, he advanced to General Manager in 2013 and became Executive Director in 2016. His leadership was instrumental in guiding the company through various projects and challenges.
In addition to his role at THDCIL, Vishnoi represented India on an international platform. He participated in the International Commission on Large Dams' Technical Committee on Seismic Safety of Dams, showcasing his expertise on a global stage.
Final Farewell
The funeral ceremony for R K Vishnoi is expected to take place in Rishikesh on Sunday. This event will provide an opportunity for colleagues, friends, and family to pay their respects to a leader who dedicated his life to advancing India's power sector.
THDC India Ltd operates across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Kerala. The company's projects span both thermal and renewable energy sectors, contributing significantly to India's energy landscape under Vishnoi's guidance.
