These Stocks Will Turn Ex-dividend This Week To February 18, 2022
Dividends are being announced by listed companies to share their profits with shareholders. Dividend pay out ratio is calculated by dividend paid or announced by the company divided by the net earnings.
Likewise as the earnings season is going on, companies also alongside are announcing dividend and turn ex-dividend in due time. For new stock market investors, there are certain dividend specific dates that are important for one's knowledge, if one hold in shares:
Important dates related to dividend payout
Cum dividend date: The last date to buy shares of the company that has announced dividend and hence be eligible to receive the dividend. This is usually one day prior to the ex-date.
Ex-dividend date: On this day, the share price of the dividend shares gets adjusted for the dividend pay out. This is a day before the record date.
Record date: This is the day when the company determines shareholders who will be eligible to receive the dividend.
Payment date: The payment date is the date when dividend is released and it is usually completed within 30 days.
Declaration date: Date of dividend rate approval by the company's board of directors.

How stock price of dividend paying stock gets adjusted?
The dividend payment reduces the share price of the stock by the dividend amount with effect from the ex-dividend date. So if the dividend announced is Rs. 2 and the stock's pre- stock price has been Rs. 10, then its stock price post the dividend or from the ex-dividend date.
