SpiceJet airline announced on Saturday that it has successfully secured flight rights for Haj operations from seven Indian cities. The airline, known for its commitment to serving diverse segments of passengers, highlighted the significant role Haj operations play in its revenue generation, with a staggering Rs 337 crore amassed in the current fiscal year alone.
The seven cities set to be part of the expanded Haj operations are Srinagar, Gaya, Guwahati, Bhopal, Indore, Aurangabad, and Vijayawada. SpiceJet revealed that the commencement of the first phase of Haj operations is scheduled for May 9, with flights destined for Medina. The airline is gearing up to ensure a seamless and comfortable travel experience for Haj pilgrims from the selected cities, emphasizing its dedication to the specific needs of this segment.

In a regulatory filing, SpiceJet outlined its impressive financial performance in the Haj services domain, with expectations of even higher revenue figures following the expansion to additional cities. The airline has been successfully operating Haj flights from five major Indian cities, and the recent inclusion of two more cities is anticipated to further boost its financial standing.
SpiceJet's Chairman & Managing Director, Ajay Singh, expressed the airline's commitment to providing top-notch services for Haj pilgrims. He emphasized that Haj operations have been a significant segment for SpiceJet, contributing significantly to the company's financial milestones. Singh stated, "We look forward to serving the Haj pilgrims and contributing to their sacred journey. Our aim is to ensure a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for all our passengers."
SpiceJet incorporated three wide-body aircraft exclusively allocated for Haj operations in 2024. The airline plans to replicate this strategy in the ongoing year, with a particular focus on elevating service standards for flights originating from Srinagar.
The airline's proficiency in catering to the specific travel requirements of Haj pilgrims has been a crucial factor in its success in this segment. SpiceJet has continually strived to provide a comfortable and secure journey for pilgrims embarking on their sacred pilgrimage. The expansion of Haj operations to seven cities aligns with SpiceJet's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for a broader spectrum of passengers.
As the airline prepares for the first phase of Haj operations from the newly added cities, passengers can expect an elevated level of service and a commitment to ensuring a hassle-free travel experience. With the incorporation of dedicated wide-body aircraft for Haj operations, SpiceJet aims to set new standards in the industry, emphasizing both efficiency and passenger satisfaction.
The shares of SpiceJet ended with gains of more than 13% on Friday (February 2) at Rs 72.43 per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The stock has soared nearly 107% in the last one year.
