Central trade unions marked a Black Day on Monday, protesting the Labour Codes' implementation. Events took place in nearly all state capitals and most district headquarters, according to a statement. The unions opposed the four labour codes, which they claim aim to strip workers of rights gained through over 150 years of struggle since the British era.

The unions are calling for the repeal of these codes and demand an Indian Labour Conference to discuss labour reforms. They argue that the pro-corporate nature of these codes undermines the trade union movement and violates international labour standards and human rights.
Trade Unions and Farmers Unite
Samyukta Kisan Morcha expressed support for the trade unions' actions. Both workers and farmers plan to organise joint protests in the coming days to push for their demands. The central trade unions involved include INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, and UTUC.
The unions have resolved to escalate their struggle for democratic rights like collective bargaining and fair working conditions. They believe these rights are essential for maintaining a just work environment.
