Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Friday indicated a firm stance against China if he wins the upcoming November elections. Trump, 78, is vying for a second term. In his speech at the Republican National Convention, he mentioned China 14 times, Russia nine times, and Iran eight times. His address lasted over an hour and a half.

Trump asserted that his foreign policy would be stricter than during his first term from 2017 to 2020. "The entire world, I tell you this, we want our hostages back, and they better be back before I assume office or you will be paying a big price. With our victory in November, the years of war, weakness, and chaos will be over," he stated.
China's Influence and Military Presence
Trump highlighted China's control over the Bagram air base. He criticised the Biden Administration for relinquishing it. "We gave it up. And I liked it, not because of Afghanistan. I liked it because of China. It's one hour away from where China makes their nuclear weapons. And you know who has it now? China has it now," he said.
He also mentioned China's activities around Taiwan and Russian military operations near Cuba. "China is likewise circling Taiwan, and Russian warships and nuclear submarines are operating 60 miles off the coast in Cuba," he added.
Economic Policies and Immigration
Reflecting on his first term, Trump claimed that the US economy was unparalleled. "China, we were beating them at incredible levels, and they know it. They know it. We'll do it again, but we'll do it even better," he said. He also promised to end illegal immigration by completing the border wall.
Trump reiterated his stance on trade with Iran during his first term. He warned other countries against buying from Iran under threat of tariffs. "And we will put tariffs on every product you do send in of 100 per cent or more," he said.
International Crises and Wars
The former president assured his supporters that he would resolve international conflicts created by the current administration. "I will end every single international crisis that the current administration has created, including the horrible war with Russia and Ukraine, which would have never happened if I was president; and the war caused by the attack on Israel, which would have never happened if I was president," he declared.
Trump criticised previous administrations for their handling of Russia. He noted that under President George Bush, Russia invaded Georgia; under President Barack Obama, Russia took Crimea; and under the current administration, Russia is after all of Ukraine. "Under President Trump, Russia took nothing," he said.
Energy Production and Future Plans
Trump emphasised the need for massive energy production to support advancements like AI. "We have to produce massive amounts of energy if we're going to produce the new -- if you look at some of the things that have been done and some of the things that we're going to do," he said.
He envisioned America entering a new golden age with courage and determination. "America is on the cusp of a new golden age. But we will have the courage to seize it," he proclaimed.
In conclusion, Trump's speech outlined a vision of strong foreign policy, economic growth, and energy production while criticising current administration policies and past administrations' handling of international issues.
